We Are Up and Running!
Wow, this I thought was such a neat idea! What a great way to keep family and friends up to date on Rylan's Journey Home! We are now about 4 months in to this, and we have a ways to go unfortunately.... We spent about 1 1/2 years waiting in the Domestic Newborn Program in which the adoption would have been like Cameron's. I grew impatient with the process and thought we needed a switch. I was direct to the Waiting Angels website and fell in love with the picture of a 3 month old little boy. He reminded me so much of Cameron at first glance that I couldn't help but go back to it over and over again. We inquired about his medical condition, general health, birth records, and updated photo's. We were more than happy with what we saw and on 10/20/06, we signed the contract. We were not completely paperwork ready as we had a lot of changing in paperwork to do. We knew that this was going to delay us a bit...but not as long as we expected. With the holidays, we met some major delays with the FBI for fingerprinting, the CIS with fingerprinting and approval to adopt an orphan, with the Guatemalan Consulate in Chicago...an the list goes on! We officially had all our US paperwork done and ready to sent to Guatemala on 1/18/07. Our attorney received our dossier (a packet of everything there is to know about us) on 1/24/07. Our file is now in translation (turning it into Spanish), and getting ready to be presented to family court in Guatemala. In fact, we are hoping this last Friday on 1/16/07 that it was presented as we were told. Getting into Family Court means we will get the authorization to do the DNA test with Rylan and his birth mom. At that time the birth mother interview is done with a social worker. Once those steps are completed, we get what is called pre-approval. Many steps after all this, but we can talk about that later! Lets just hope this part can get done in the next few weeks and maybe we can start planning a visit!
